The contiguous United States isn’t dangerous enough for a man like Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Murdaugh: Death in the Family).
On Thursday, Apple TV+ released the trailer for The Last Frontier, the new drama series from The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, starring and executive produced by Clarke. In it, Clarke’s got a real Con Air problem on his hands.
The Last Frontier follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the barrens of Alaska. It’s a pretty serene place, until a prison transport plane crashes, setting dozens of inmates free (and free-zing).

Making matters worse, the CIA isn’t any help. As a matter of fact, they might be in on this whole thing.
“Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, [Remnick] begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications,” the logline reads.
That is about when things get real dark under the Northern Lights. Like, for starters, Frank’s wife gets kidnapped; this baddie is a real piece of work.
The Last Frontier, from Apple Studios, also stars Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum and Alfre Woodard. Laura Benson, Glenn Kessler, Albert Kim and the show’s director Sam Hargrave executive produce the series alongside its co-creators and Clarke.
The 10-episode thriller premieres its first two episodes on Friday, Oct. 10 on Apple TV+. New episodes roll out each Friday through Dec. 5.
